Information Collected
A search query entered in a search box may be sent to the provider that operates that tool. A message sent through a contact route may include the name, email address, and details supplied by the sender. Standard technical data can also be collected automatically, including device and browser information, IP address, pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP, and access timing.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate and improve the resource, respond to messages, maintain security, measure traffic, provide search functionality, display or measure advertising, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use a contact message to create or confirm a government record. A visitor should send a records request to the proper Sheriff, jail, corrections department, or court custodian instead.
Cookies and Similar Tools
Cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar tools may remember preferences, recognize a browser, measure use, limit fraud, or support advertising. Browser settings can usually block or remove cookies, though some features may work differently after that choice. A third-party provider may apply its own technology when a search or outbound link is used.
Links to Other Services
Links can lead to official Sheriff, regional-jail, court, corrections, federal, and other websites. Those services are independently operated. Their terms, privacy notices, availability, and handling of submitted information control after a visitor leaves this resource. An outbound link is not an endorsement or a promise about another service’s current data.
Who May Receive Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to search providers that process a query, analytics vendors, advertising networks, service providers that help operate the resource, and public authorities when a valid legal order requires disclosure. A transfer can also occur in connection with a business reorganization, subject to applicable law.
Security Limits
Reasonable administrative and technical practices are used to protect information, but no internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. Do not send sensitive records, account credentials, or unnecessary personal details through an ordinary contact route. For an official adult booking or court record, use the contact process published by the actual custodian.
Children
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted personal information, they may request review and deletion through the contact route.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and verification, a person may ask for a copy of personal data held here, request correction of inaccurate contact information, ask for deletion where appropriate, or opt out of certain processing. These requests do not alter a record held by the Appomattox County Sheriff, BRRJA, VADOC, a court, or any other government office.
- Ask what personal contact information is held.
- Request correction of a submitted email address or message detail.
- Request deletion of information that is no longer needed.
- Ask about available choices for certain nonessential processing.
Policy Updates
This notice may change as services, practices, or legal requirements change. The current version is posted here. Continued use after an updated notice is posted is subject to the updated text.
